Winding through the piñons.
Today, we rode the Cave Springs Trail, which is on the other side of the lake from the trail we rode yesterday.
Unfortunately, this trail is not nearly as good as the Cave Overlook trail.
The Cave Overlook trail is on the background ridge.
It’s a loose, nondescript trail that just sort of wanders through the piñons, and has eroded sections that look like remnants of an old 4x4 road.
Dead end.
After about four miles it petered out at a dirt road. We went up the road hoping to find some springs or something, but it just dead-ended in a box canyon.
Steep, loose, eroded. Nice.
We had to climb up a steep, rocky trail to avoid a gravel road and return on the same trail.
Hey, we’re on vacation!
It was a disappointment compared to the great trail yesterday, but now we know.
BTW, Nevada has really nice state campgrounds. Nice campsites, clean, and best of all—showers!
